Terms
I typically discuss with the client the character of the subject and the feel of the picture that the client is looking for.
I also research like subject matter and discuss possibilities with the client.
Where possible, I visit and photograph the subject in question.
From there, the client and I select the best photographs to work from.
Any changes that the client would like to see can be discussed and made at this point.
If requested by the client, I provide regular photographic (digitally communicated) updates to the client throughout the entire development of the work up to completion.
Photography is included in the price of the commission, however where it is not possible to take new pictures, I will work from the client's photographs. The only condition being that the photographs are clear and in focus with plenty of detail. 
Where possible, delivery will be made in person by Vance Sterley. If delivery in person is not achievable then the work will be posted to the client by Royal Mail Special Delivery, or courier, and it will be covered against loss or damage whilst in transit.
Completed work is supplied unframed. If framing is required then a new quote will be provided to the client. Please allow framing times should your commission be for a special occasion.
Anticipated completion date will be given at the time of ordering or upon prior enquiry.
Although Vance Sterley will make every effort to meet this, it should regarded as an indicative time frame.
Vance Sterley will not be held liable for delays in completion due to reasons beyond his control.
Reproduction and publishing rights for all artwork remain with Vance Sterley and images must not be copied, reproduced or published in any shape or form without Vance Sterley's express written permission.
The client agrees that commissioned images may be used by Vance Sterley for promotional purposes, prints for sale or any other purpose.
The most common media is either Oil or Acrylic. The most common size for Oil or Acrylic paintings is approximately 16" x 20".
In the unlikely event that the client does not think that the work is a true likeness, Vance Sterley will make appropriate alterations.
Any further alterations after this will at a cost of £20 per hour. If the client does not wish to keep the finished work undertaken even after alterations have been made, Vance Sterley will refund their payment less the deposit and any additional postage costs upon return of the work.
In order to comply with this guarantee Vance Sterley must be notified within 48 hours of receipt of the finished work of this intention, and the finished work must be returned undamaged within 7 days of receipt of the finished work.
